Travel Nursing Questions: What is the Housing like?

Reader question:

What is the housing like? Do you get washers and dryers? Do you have to share with other nurses?

Housing varies, depending on the company you travel with, and the city in which you live. In most places, it is a one bedroom apartment (although some companies will allow you to request a two bedroom, for a small monthly fee). We always request a washer and dryer in unit, and usually get it. Most companies offer private housing, so you won't have to share with another traveler-- but I have seen a few companies who only provide shared housing, so check with your company, and have it written into your contract if there is any question.

Housing is hard to find in some locations, so you may be put in an extended stay hotel or something similar.

Some companies provide fully furnished housing, with a housewares package that includes your linens, cookware, and basic necessities. Some companies only provide basic furniture-- a bed, nightstand, table, chairs, couch, loveseat, and coffee table. Again, check with your company and make sure your contract specifies what you were promised.

Another great question! Hope this helps.
